High Holiday Survey 5781

High Holiday Survey 5781

Dear BDJ member,

As we look forward to the Yamim Noraim, we are working hard to accommodate each and every member’s needs and to make our chagim as spiritually uplifting and meaningful as possible. We know this year will be different, and nevertheless we will work together to infuse it with familiarity and comfort. In order to do this, we ask that you please take a few minutes to complete the survey below (one per household), so we have a better sense of your needs and what will be most comfortable for you and your family. We realize it may be hard and complicated to look a month or two ahead right now, and that the act of doing so can be filled with mixed emotions. This is an important spiritual moment for our community, and we want you to know that we are here for you. We will keep you updated with full transparency, and if anything shifts in your family’s comfort level or need, please keep us posted.

Please also save the date of Thursday, August 20th as we plan to host a community-wide virtual meeting to review our plans for the holidays, more details to follow!

We thank you for partnering with us  and we look forward -- with God’s help -- to welcoming 5781 together as a BDJ Family (in all of the ways we can!).

This year, given that we likely will not be able to use our Sanctuary for davening, we will most likely only be able to accommodate requests from our current members.  Please register for membership asap if you haven’t already done so.  If you have questions or a financial need request, please contact Adynna Swarz at director@bnaidavid.com.

If you are interested in purchasing a Koren machzor, similar to what we use in shul, you may purchase one here.  You may borrow up to 2 Birnbaum machzorim per household to be used if you are not able to attend davening in person.

Rosh Hashanah / Yom Kippur Minyanim

We are working hard to create as many minyan spots as possible.  However, the current Department of Health regulations do not allow for indoor worship, which means we need to identify and set up multiple outdoor locations as a substitute.  It is very important for us to better understand how many people plan to and would like to attend in-person services so that we can create as many spots as possible.
How many men (over Bar Mitzvah) plan to attend?
How many women (over Bat Mitzvah) plan to attend?

Sukkot

Please help us get a better idea of whether you will be needing assistance in accessing a sukkah this year or if you would be willing to host a "pop-up" sukkah on your front lawn.  These "pop-up" sukkahs would not be used by the host families but rather available to members of the community without access to a sukkah of their own.  We would ask people to pre-register for 15 minute increments where they could use the sukkah to make kiddush and hamotzi.  Participants would bring their own grape juice / wine, challah and water to wash.  We will provide the "pop-up" sukkahs unless the host family has an extra one that is available.
