The Marilynn Lowenstein z'l Memorial Shiur is sponsored by Ruth and Rabbi Yaakov Glasser in memory of Ruth’s parents, and cherished BDJ members, Marilynn & Steve Lowenstein z’l. Marilynn, who passed away in 2007, and Steve, who passed away in 2020, were passionate lovers of Torah study, and advocates of women’s Torah learning and scholarship.
Miriam Heller Stern, PhD is Incoming CEO of Builders of Jewish Education, Los Angeles. She is a leader, scholar, strategist and consultant, having directed the graduate schools of education at Hebrew Union College and AJU for over fifteen years. Her most recent publication, "Jewish Creativity: An Essential Aspiration for Jewish Education" is a call to educators across the Jewish spectrum to empower learners to develop chidushim, novel of ideas of value, reclaiming a historic legacy of Jewish creativity. She is the founder of Beit HaYotzer, the Creativity Braintrust, and advises various initiatives to improve and advance Jewish education nationally and globally.
Locally, Dr. Stern has served on the boards of Shalhevet, theatre dybbuk and various committees of Harkham Hillel Hebrew Academy. She has been proud to call Los Angeles home for over two decades together with her husband Jonathan, and their three children, Elijah, Judah and Zoe.
Registration is required for extended care. Registration closes on Wednesday, May 28.
All extended care registrants will be brought down at the end of the shiur.
