Never read Torah before, or maybe not since your Bar/Bat Mitzvah? BDJ is offering an interactive class in the basics of Torah reading. In this class we will learn the musical notation and basic syntax of the Torah, how to sing the notes for Torah reading, how to connect individual notes to make a musical sentence, and strategies for preparing aliyot when reading from a Sefer Torah. This is a skill-building class and should be enjoyable for anyone who wants to learn to read Torah, expand their study of Torah, or enhance the experience of hearing Torah read. The class will be taught by resident expert Alex Fax on Sunday evenings starting October 22.
