For more than 100 days this year, the B'nai David-Judea building was closed, but our community remained open and connected. Thanks to our dedicated Executive Director, Adynna Swarz, and our devoted clergy Rav Yosef and Rabbanit Alissa, we were able to transition to virtual programming quickly. We found creative ways to support each other spiritually, emotionally, and practically as we tried to adjust to our new circumstances. Life went on, and over the next few weeks you will have the opportunity to hear from BDJ members about how they marked life cycle and other events with the help and support of our clergy and community. Throughout this challenging time, BDJ has been a model of achdut (unity) with each other and the larger Jewish and Los Angeles communities, and ahavah (caring) for each other in countless ways.
This year we are continuing with our membership renewal process during the first part of July, just as we always do, but will wait on sharing registration information for the High Holidays until we have a better idea of what September will look like. This year more than most, it is crucial that you promptly renew your membership as soon as possible but no later than by August 15th so that we can continue to provide you with the caring connections and engaging programming that define BDJ in person and virtually. As we continue the slow and careful process of reopening, please do your part to ensure that BDJ -- the institution and the community -- will emerge healthy and strong.
Looking forward to the day when we can once again all come together in peace and in health.
