B'nai David-Judea

Dear members:

We know these are anxious times. We want to take a measured response to the coronavirus while we strive to protect the health and safety of our shul community.

It is important for all of us to follow the best advice being dispensed by government health authorities. As such, we are writing to inform you of changes that we are putting into effect temporarily. We will implement the following for the foreseeable future:

-Diligently disinfect high-frequent touch areas such as doorknobs and bathrooms.

-Add more trash cans to facilitate disposal of dirty tissues.

-Reinforce good hand hygiene with Rechov Yeladim staff both for themselves and for the children in their care.

-Fully stock bathrooms to facilitate frequent handwashing.

-In addition, we will temporarily cease carrying the Torah around in procession on Shabbat to avoid multiple people touching and kissing them.

As a reminder, individuals should also practice general flu prevention strategies:

-Frequently wash your hands with soap for 20 seconds or more.

-Cough into your elbow, or cover your cough and sneeze with a tissue that is immediately thrown into the garbage.

-Utilize alternate ways of greeting each other instead of handshakes, such as verbal salutations or elbow bumps.

-DO NOT come to shul if you are sick and do not bring children to Rechov Yeladim if they exhibit fever or cough. If as a result of being sick or immuno-compromised, you are unable to hear Parshat Zachor or Megillah, please be in touch with our clergy, who will assist you.

If you have any questions, please be in touch with Adynna Swarz or Duke Helfand. For any ritual concerns, please be in touch with the clergy.

Adynna Swarz, Executive Director

Duke Helfand, President

Rabbi Yosef Kanefsky, Senior Rabbi
