This year we will be studying the second perek of Massechet Kiddushin. The major topics we’ll be looking at include:

The rabbinic reshaping of Biblical marriage

The nature and limits of shlichut (legal agency) as it pertains both to marriage and in halacha in general

Moral accountability when enlisting an agent to perform a transgression on your behalf

The implications of a false representation at the time of proposal of marriage

Every shiur begins with guided chavruta study, giving participants the opportunity to strengthen and build their independent Gemara learning skills. Prior experience with Gemara study will be most beneficial.
