CAMP BDJ - PURIM PLANS
Dear friends,
As you've read, we will be celebrating Purim with Mogen
David Cong. this year. We are very thankful to them and
to Rabbi Gabe Elias for welcoming us. There are a few things
that I need to call to Your attention in order to insure that
everything goes smoothly.
First, the timing of the Megillah reading
on Saturday night: It had been Mogen David's intention to
read Megillah immediately at the close of Shabbat. In my discussions
with Rabbi Elias, I explained that this would virtually insure
that most of us BDJ'ers would be late (probably very late)
and we would thus not be able to fulfill our mitzvah of hearing
the "gantsa Megillah" (the entire Megilah). Rabbi
Elias very graciously agreed to push off the start time till
7:15. Even still, this will be close timing for most of us.
So I'd like to make the following suggestions:
(1) Please have Your [children's] costumes all ready and laid
out before Shabbat, and as soon as you've recited Havdalah,
go, go go!
(2) Please think about how you'll be getting to Mogen David.
Parking there is limited. Please consider car pools, park
& walk, etc. Rabbi Elias is looking into the possibility
of our being able to park across the street at the Museum
Of Tolerance. We will let you know the status of this request
as the week progresses.
(3) Remember as well, that there will be a second reading
of the Megillah, at approximately 8:30.
Moving on to the post-Megillah party:
As we do every year, we will be having a post-Megilah party
with music, food, games and a costume exhibition. We are thankful
to Leah Lesch, Angie Bass and all of the committee members
who have worked on the planning. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE
MEMBERS OF MOGEN DAVID WILL HOPEFULLY BE JOINING US AS WELL.
IT'S IMPORTANT THAT WE REMEMBER THAT THEY ARE OUR HOSTS, AND
THAT WE ARE THANKFUL TO THEM FOR OPENING THEIR DOORS TO US.
Last Shabbat, the first of Camp BDJ, was really encouraging.
Thank God, (and thanks to lots of hard work) all the details
worked out, and we had a lovely Shabbat. I'm confident that
Purim will be great too.
Rav Yosef
Megillah carpool
Due to the need to get from Beis Betzalel to Mogen David after
Maariv on Motzai Shabbat for Megillah reading, we are trying
to organize a carpool/shuttle leaving from the Bnai David
parking lot. If you are interested in being a driver or a
passenger, please call Yechiel Hoffman at (310) 273-4186.
Have a Happy Purim!
Parking Available!
In appreciation to Rabbi Gabe Elias, B'nai David-Judea will
have parking for Saturday night at the Simon Wiesenthal Center
underground parking lot.
When driving to Mogen David please proceed to the Wiesenthal
underground parking on the South side of Pico.
Parking is free.
Contributions to cover BDJ's cost of the parking will be accepted
on Saturday night at the Purim Party.
